I’ve been focusing on other aspects of my photography studio (getting the studio settled in it’s new space and facing the slew of customers for holiday photos took up a lot of time!) and now I’m finally able to focus on this blog more. This coming year I plan to introduce a more comfortable rhythm to the blog, adding more fun stuff as I find it as well as bringing in more of my landscape and portrait work (and others art, too, as I find beautiful stuff I’ll share it with you!). So that’s my resolution. I hope that you and your family and friends are all enjoying the beginning to a wonderful, artsy New Year!
I’m sorry that I’ve disappeared, I’ve been using Google+, Facebook, flickr and my website for showing off my photos, and I moved into my new space at the Smiley Building in Durango, CO and it’s left me with little time to add to this blog page! I’ll be back, I plan to start highlighting clients photos more with the blog, as well as posting my favorite landscapes and general photography, so please visit again! I just won’t be here daily… But you will see me! Promise!
In the spirit of October, I bring you…
A fun shot of a strangely sad scene… the dying field of sunflowers was so solemn, so strange to view, that I had to stop and take some photos of it. Usually they are the happiest of flowers, you know?

I really enjoy so many aspects of photography, and so many different “looks” and types, that it is hard to decide on a specific style that I enjoy most. This is certainly a joyful style for me, though- the candid portrait. Formal portraits, or something where I can control light, looks, expressions, etc, are all very fun and a good place to show skill as a photographer. Candids are more about speed and the ability to catch an unguarded look.
Anyways, see more of my work (lots of candids, but much variety as well) at www.kelleybard.com. Enjoy!
Bridal photo- This photo was taken right before the ceremony, and the bride (who was quite nervous) looks confident and radiant as she waits in hiding for the ceremony to start. I love her style, she made the beautiful photos very easy to take!
This one is headed for the wedding portfolio on www.kelleybard.com.
Calm water, fog… ahhh. I had dreamed, planned to go to the Ferry Building in San Francisco months before I arrived. For sunrise. I wasn’t sure how in the hell I was going to wake up that early on a vacation, with no car, and get down there (taxi worked well, btw), but I was going to do it. And I actually followed through. I think that I am more apt to do hard work for art that I love, than for myself. Just an observation- maybe my own moment of zen.
Often my photos end up on my website- http://www.kelleybard.com. I also have flickr, facebook and google+ accts where I post photos. Flickr and Facebook are under “Kelley Bard Photography”, google+ is under Kelley Bard. Look me up in those places if you wish, oftentimes there is overlap, but sometimes I post a photo just to one area, or observations/thoughts/fun stuff.
I was woefully late (almost a full week) in posting photos from last weekend’s wedding shoot, so here you go. Great, relaxed couple that I’ve been blessed to photograph several times. They wanted an autumn-ish wedding, so I processed it with a warm glow to show off all of the flower colors and such. Fun to shoot, for sure!
More at www.kelleybard.com!
BTW, I’m sitting here late at night, downloading music, listening to much more awake tunes than I should be at this hour, working on photos. How lucky am I?? Life is great.
